Sourcing & the Supply Chain
Olympic International provides high-quality HVAC solutions to our customers. When looking at our supply chain, HVAC equipment manufacturers represent majority of where we can make an impact. As a result, Olympic implemented policies and programs to address and positively influence human rights in the supply chain.
How we work with our suppliers
When Olympic sources equipment there is a complex decision-making process that goes into it. Integrity is at the core of every decision that Olympic makes. Our teams work with suppliers to ensure the product and facilities meet our requirements for technical capabilities, quality, innovation and responsibility.

Due Diligence
Understanding our suppliers and risk in the supply chain
As part of this, Olympic conducts comprehensive due diligence measures to assess and address the risks of modern slavery within the supply chain. Our approach emphasizes transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement, aligning with our commitment to ethical business practices.
Our due diligence approach is structured around three key pillars:
Disclosure: We are working continuously with our suppliers to create transparency in the supply chain. Our efforts have focused on understanding our finished goods manufacturing (Tier 1), componentry and subcontractors (Tier 2) manufacturing sites. With this, we are improving the process for identifying country of origin for raw materials. This transparency is an essential part of fostering trust with our partners and customers.
Monitoring: As part of our regular business operations, Olympic conducts a high volume of on-site visits with manufacturing sites. Our commitment to regular, in-depth monitoring includes continuous on-site visits and assessments of our manufacturing sites. This ensures that we maintain oversight of the facilities, address any emerging risks and understand the facility’s capability and potential innovations. These visits are integral to our partnership-based approach and will continue to be a priority in our due diligence process.
Risk Assessment: We use risk assessment tools and methodologies to assess risks tied to geographical locations and specific commodities within our supply chain. This ongoing process helps us identify any potential high-risk regions, populations or products. By conducting this assessment regularly, potential challenges that could create supply chain disruptions are detected earlier and allow for proactive measures to be taken.
As part of our risk assessment, we look specifically at our sourcing countries. We categorize country risks based on several factors, including:
- Prevalence: The likelihood of occurrence in a specific country.
- Vulnerability: Increased presence of vulnerable groups, such as migrant workers, displaced people, minority groups, and students.
- Government Response: The robustness of government actions to combat forced or child labour.
We consistently evaluate these factors to gauge potential risks within our supply chain and adapt our due diligence efforts accordingly.
Remediation
Supporting workers in our operations and the supply chain
At Olympic, we prioritize the ethical management of both direct operations and our supply chain.
Direct Operations: In regions like Canada, Olympic maintains low risk for forced and child labour. To date, there has been no instances identified in our direct operations.
Supply Chain: Olympic’s efforts to map and assess its supply chain locations have been pivotal in establishing a baseline for risk. Through comprehensive assessments and the implementation of human rights policies, Olympic plans to enhance our monitoring of high-risk suppliers. As we explore further into our supply chain, we remain committed to addressing human rights as it relates to vulnerable workers.
Grievance Channel and Support for Vulnerable Workers
To ensure a proactive approach to human rights, we have established a grievance channel for workers within our supply chain. This system will be expanded to cover upstream supply chain activities, providing an accessible platform for reporting concerns. This channel helps us support suppliers and workers by addressing potential issues before they escalate.
Training
Olympic conducts mandatory training to educate staff on the risks of forced and child labour within the supply chain. This training is part of our commitment to annual training for all staff and ongoing training for specific stakeholders. All employees are required to be familiar with Olympic’s Responsible Sourcing Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct. The Forced Labour and Child Labour Training covered key aspects of identifying and mitigating these risks.
Additionally, specialized training to key individuals is conducted on an as needed basis. For example, a key training that is conducted provides the technical capability to take part in the Visual Inspection Program. This program equips those who regularly visit suppliers and manufacturing sites with the necessary tools to conduct assessments and support due diligence efforts.
Our Commitment
To assess the impact of our program and demonstrate our continuous efforts to improving human rights in the supply chain, we commit to annually report on:
- Employee Training: The number of employees trained in forced and child labour prevention.
- Grievance Awareness and Cases: Awareness levels surrounding the grievance channel and the number of reported cases.
- Supplier Risk: Compliance with forced and child labour policies by suppliers, including audit assessments based on identified risks.
At Olympic, our commitment to integrity in everything we do remains steadfast. We are dedicated to fostering a transparent and ethical supply chain that upholds our values of technical capabilities, quality, innovation and responsibility.
